MENTORING

Implement and facilitate mentoring programs with caring, responsible adults or peers who provide access to people, places, and things outside the mentee’s routine environment.  Youth peer mentors are also developed through high school mentoring programs.

TUTORING

Provide tutoring services at all grade school levels.

The tutor, who is similar to a teacher, except unlike a teacher, the tutor is able to offer students one-on-one attention and explain difficult concepts.  Project Youth Educational Services [Y.E.S.], Inc. Tutors  may be students themselves; all tutors volunteer their time.

Academic Enrichment Program. Engage students in the development of a holistic experience with a focus on academic achievement.

 

SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

Scholarship Programs award scholarships to eligible students based on criteria determined by the respective Scholarship Committee.  Each program is responsible to:

​

a.         Coordinate the application, delivery and selection process for scholarships

including design/distribution.

b.         Review applications and select scholarship recipients.

c.         Announce scholarship recipients.

d.         Arrange for scholarship recipients to attend Transition from High School seminar.

e.         Distribute award letters to recipients.

f.          Distribute Certificates of Awards to recipients

SUCCESSFUL TRANSITIONS FROM HIGH SCHOOL

A seminar designed to introduce high school students to and prepare them to meet the challenges they will face as they transition from high school.  In this seminar, student learn about available resources to help them successfully navigate life, be it technical school, college/university, military and the like.  One major point is to help incoming college freshmen avoid the pitfalls of college culture.
